What is L-carnitine?

 

L-carnitine is a vitamin-like substance with a physiologically important role, occurring naturally in foods of animal origin and synthesized in the human body from the amino acids lysine and methionine. It is present primarily in muscle tissue and in the heart, as well as in nervous tissue.

 

During exercise, the body first draws energy from unnecessary fat and effectively burns even the most difficult to lose resistant fat. L-carnitine is involved in lipid metabolism by acting as a specific transporter of long-chain fatty acids to cellular mitochondria, thereby enabling their burning and energy production.

 

In addition, carnitine provides an adequate acetyl-CoA to CoA relationship in cells and exhibits antioxidant activity. Carnitine derivative – acetyl-carnitine provide acetyl groups for the synthesis of acetylcholine – an important neurotransmitter. Recent studies indicate that it also affects male fertility.

 

Green tea extract supports metabolism and contributes to the oxidation of fats. Green tea owes its slimming properties to catechins, especially the substance called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). Catechins contained in green tea have a significant and multidirectional effect on fat reduction.
